Feed My People Food Bank is a cost effective way to provide food pantries, soup kitchens, day-care centers, youth programs, senior centers, and homeless and residential shelters in west central Wisconsin with enough food so that thousands of people can be helped each year. We are a trusted and efficient resource for these local hunger relief agencies.
We're effective and efficient:
For every $1 donated, Feed My People Food Bank can obtain and distribute 7 pounds of food worth more than $10.
We employ few people and utilize the services of volunteers annually to acquire inspect, sort, warehouse, and distribute enormous quantities of food. Only 3 percent of expenditures goes to fundraising and administrative costs.
Volunteers contribute approximately 4,500 hours annually assisting the food bank directly. In addition, thousands of hours are contributed by individuals, businesses, and organizations that take on projects to benefit Feed My People Food Bank.
The warehouse of Feed My People Food Bank is a 7,000 square foot facility located near Banbury Place in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Feed My People has 2700 cubic feet of freezer space for frozen food products and 700 cubic feet of refrigeration space. Because so much food goes out our door every week, we are also able to stock fresh fruit and vegetables.
All food donated to Feed My People Food Bank from individuals or group food drives is given out free of charge to member hunger relief agencies for distribution. Because of generous financial donations to Feed My People, an additional half million pounds of food is given to member agencies annually for no charge. Other product, which comes predominately through Second Harvest Heartland in St. Paul, MN and the national network of food banks, is made available to member hunger relief agencies for 14 cents per pound. This fee helps cover the cost of transportation and handling. Individuals receiving food are never charged a fee.
Each year we feed more and more people, that’s why we need your help.
