Everyday people in Wisconsin go hungry and it's not just in the big cities. In west central Wisconsin alone, more than 10,000 individuals each month rely on food received from programs supplied by Feed My People Food Bank for their very next meal. Approximately 40% are children. That's 4,000 hungry children.
For 25 years Feed My People has been concerned with hunger. Feed My People is a cost effective way to provide food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters in west central Wisconsin with enough food so that thousands of people can be helped each month.
According to the 2000 US Census, there are 39,714 people living in the 14 counties we serve that live in poverty and 23,828 of them are children or elderly. Many of these individuals need food assistance from time to time.
As a food bank, Feed My People is a crucial link between food manufacturers, suppliers, and the front-line agencies that provide direct service to the hungry. Our large warehouse, complete with freezer and cooler space, allows for storage of vast quantities of food from which hunger relief agencies can obtain products for distribution. We distribute food to more than 55 agencies in the 14 counties we serve. Feed My People is one of only three food banks in Wisconsin. View a listing of hunger relief agencies.
In addition to distributing food, Feed My People provides services and technical assistance to agencies that operate food pantries or programs so that they operate optimally.
Feed My People Food Bank is an independent, nondenominational 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. It serves as a partner distribution outlet for Second Harvest Heartland in St. Paul, Minnesota. Feed My People Food Bank is governed by a Board of Directors made up of community and agency representatives.
