The number of people who need emergency food continues to increase. You can help. The money goes so far because we are working with donated product. Leave a legacy and fight hunger for generations to come through a variety of options:

• Compassionate Legacy Society. Inform us of your intention to leave a planned gift and you will become part of Feed My People's Compassionate Legacy Society. Adding your name to this growing list encourages others to consider similar support.

• Eau Claire Community Foundation. Contact the foundation about giving to Feed My People Endowment Fund. This fund was set up to support the food bank's future, especially its programs that target children in need of food assistance.

• Bequests. A gift in your will or trust may be the best way for you to help fund Feed My People Food Bank because you won't give up money you need now for living expenses. A bequest will perpetuate your annual support of our mission.

• Charitable Gift Annuity. It's a way to make a gift without sacrificing income. A fixed income that doesn't fluctuate with the stock market may help meet your need for a secure retirement. Establish a charitable gift annuity for any amount of $5,000 or more ($10,000 for two people). There's no upper limit. Typical gift annuities are $25,000 to $50,000. If you establish a gift annuity with appreciated securities, your capital-gains tax will be less than if you sold the securities.

• Charitable Trusts. Leaving a charitable trust in your estate and financial planning may offer income tax benefits and flexibility in planning for your retirement income.

• Gifts of Securities and Real Estate. A gift of securities or real estate offer income-tax benefits that can help you in your financial and tax planning.

• Automatic Withdrawal. Give a little out of each paycheck or even once every couple of months.
