Corporations help combat hunger in innovative ways including sponsoring events and donating the proceeds or encouraging their employees to donate and matching the contributions.
Events generate media coverage and lots of people. When more people are aware of hunger in our community, more people respond. By making your company's commitment to hunger visible, you encourage more to do the same. Companies are finding innovative ways to raise money including a silent auction, run/walk, concert, craft show, holiday party, or bake sale.
Many companies also direct their charitable giving programs through matching gifts. When an employee notifies the company that he or she has made a charitable donation, the company makes a gift of the same amount--in some cases double the amount--to the same charitable organization. Matching gift programs are a wonderful way for employees to stretch their charitable dollars at no cost to themselves.
Industry Specific Businesses:
Food Retailers and Wholesale Distributors. Feed My People acquires most of its food in partnership with retailers and wholesale distributors such as Bush Brothers, Gold 'N Plump, and Eby Brown. We actually help companies solve a major business and environmental problem, accepting large quantities of good food that might have been overproduced, incorrectly labeled or packaged, or simply not selling well. Transportation, & Storage Companies. We welcome phone calls from trucking companies that handle food and are in need of unloading part of their load. Our location and loading docks are semi truck friendly. Receipts are provided immediately. Storage companies fill an important need because donations can be difficult to predict, so occasionally we are in need of short term additional storage space.
Marketing, Advertising, and Printing Companies. Feed My People Food Bank is in need of promotional materials so that people have the opportunity to learn about us and the impact we are making. When more people are aware of hunger in our community, more people respond.
