As the only food bank in west central Wisconsin, Feed My People distributes 150,000+ pounds of food a week and 7.5 million pounds a year to local agencies. We are a cost effective way to provide pantries, community tables, and shelters enough food so thousands of people can be helped each month.

Summer Meals for Kids

Feed My People Food Bank is partnering with UW-Eau Claire's Wisconsin Youth Success Program this summer to provide more meals for children at risk of hunger.

Summer can be a tough time for families. With more than 40 percent of children in the Eau Claire Area School District qualifying for the federal free and reduced lunch program, summer means thousands of kids could struggle with hunger locally.

For this reason, Feed My People is excited to extend its Weekend Kids' Meal Program to Wisconsin Youth Success Program. This partnership will help fight hunger locally by providing meal bags youth can take home on the weekend. Each meal bag will have food for two breakfasts and two lunches.

"The partnership between Feed My People Food Bank and the Wisconsin Youth Success Program (WYSP) is a natural fit as both programs strive to serve the underserved youth in the Chippewa Valley," said Brittnay Matti, wellness coordinator at UW-Eau Claire's University Recreation and Sports Facilities. "WYSP provides two meals per day to the campers who attend. This partnership enables this support to continue over the weekend!"

Weekend Kids' Meals will also be available for area children. Last summer, this program served 1,600 youth in Eau Claire and Altoona. Feed My People expects to serve more children this summer.

Bagged breakfasts and lunches for weekends will be delivered to -

• Putnam Heights Elementary, Robbins Elementary, Lakeshore Elementary, Sam Davey Elementary. Thursdays, June 20 - July 18 (will serve Wednesday, July 3 instead of Thursday, July 4)

• Boys & Girls Club (Contact Boys & Girls Club to sign up). Thursdays and Fridays until 6 p.m., June 20 - August 23 (No service Thursday, July 4)

• The Community Table (Contact The Community Table to sign up). Fridays, 4 - 6:15 p.m., June 14 - August 23

The Weekend Kids' Meals summer program is made possible by Feed My People, Scheels and Charter Bank. For information about additional free summer meal opportunities at Feed My People's partner hunger-relief agencies, click here. All ages are served unless otherwise noted.
