Feed My People to Hold Competitive Food and Fund Drive

Feed My People Food Bank invites local businesses to join them in their second annual competitive food and fund drive, Christmas in July.

During the holidays, our community is always generous in their support of Feed My People and our mission of helping those who struggle with hunger. Many people however, are unaware that the summer months can be a difficult time for families. As children go on summer break, the added cost of child care paired with no longer being able to rely on school lunches can add financial stress to many families already struggling to put food on the table.

Participating in Christmas in July is a fun and easy way to help families in need in our community. During the month of July, participate by organizing a food/fund collection at work. Generate friendly competition among departments, or organize events like cookouts or thrift sales to raise funds. Businesses can match employee contributions and quickly double their efforts.

Awards will be given for the highest total number of meals collected, as well as the highest number of meals collected per employee. Totals will be based on the equivalent number of meals donated: $1 = 5  meals, 1.3 pounds of food = 1 meal.

All collections need to be received by Feed My People by 4:30 p.m. July 31, 2013.
