Golden Guernsey Milk Donation
Feed My People Food Bank recently received 24 pallets of Golden Guernsey milk to help nourish those struggling with hunger in the region. The milk was delivered from the recently bankrupt Milwaukee plant.
Thousands of gallons were on track to be wasted until WISN-TV 12 publicized the issue Thursday, according to the Milwaukee-based news station's website.
"We are so pleased to receive this donation and get it to the people who need it most," said Emily Moore, Feed My People's executive director. "Milk is always in demand at our food bank."
Feed My People distributed 4,335 crates of assorted sizes of milk in 2012.
As part of the Feeding America national network of food banks, Feed My People provides an important link between food manufacturers, distributors, farmers and retailers, and the food pantries, shelters, and community meal programs that assist thousands of people struggling with hunger in west central Wisconsin. By obtaining food from Feed My People, more than 100 hunger-relief agencies save millions of dollars and feed more people every year.
