Since 2004, Feed My People (FMP) and its board of directors have selected a standout organization or...
Feed My People's Executive Director, Suzanne Becker, will be retiring. She will officially step down early next year, having worked at FMP since 2011. Her retirement marks the end of a remarkable tenure characterized by dedication, growth, and an unwavering commitment to fighting local hunger.
For 17 years, Becker has been at the forefront of efforts to feed our neighbors in need in Eau Claire and the surrounding communities. Her journey with Feed My People began as the assistant director, a role she held for ten years. Before her work at Feed My People, she managed one of the organization's largest partner agencies, Trinity Food Pantry.
Throughout her tenure, Becker has led efforts launching key initiatives that have significantly advanced the organization's mission including the Farm to Food Bank program, driving local fresh food into distribution channels, and the Project FEED program to deepen resources for youth experiencing food insecurity. Her leadership has also fostered strong partnerships among many nonprofit organizations, including Feeding Wisconsin and other food banks, driving growth at the local, regional, and statewide level.
Since becoming Executive Director, Becker has adeptly navigated the organization through challenging economic conditions, overseen the implementation of the Hunger Action Center addition, and led the development of Feed My People's new strategic plan. Her efforts have ensured the food bank's resilience and capacity to support the community for years to come.
"Suzanne has been a highly effective and compassionate leader whose dedication has ensured that FMP continued to grow and evolve under her leadership. On behalf of the entire board, we wish her all the best in her retirement," said John Satre, president of FMP's board of directors.
Reflecting on her tenure, Becker said, "I continue to be inspired every day by the dedication, generosity, and hard work of Feed My People's staff, board, and the entire community. As my role as director is coming to a close, I am confident that the work we're doing today will carry on in far-reaching ways. I will forever be inspired by the power of collaboration and the impact that happens when we all come together in support of our neighbors."
The Board of Directors has begun the process of searching for a new executive director to lead Feed My People into the future. An announcement regarding the appointment of a successor will be made in the coming months.
