September is Hunger Action Month

It's difficult to imagine that hunger exists in America's Heartland. However, thousands of our Wisconsin neighbors are food insecure, meaning at times they don't know where or when they will have their next meal. Others are hungry, meaning there is no next meal.

Hunger Action Month is a month dedicated to recognizing hunger nationally. This September, you can help lead the way in changing the impact of hunger in your local community.

Every dollar donated this month up to $25,000 will be matched by the Wilsey Estate (learn more about them here). Your monetary donations change lives and strengthen our community. Consideration a donation today at

Volunteer today on your own or with a group to take a stand against hunger together. Our programs depend on volunteers. Whether you volunteer once with us or make a weekly commitment, your hard work is helping more food get to our hungry neighbors. There are a variety of volunteer opportunities available at our warehouse including food repacking, picking orders, delivering food, and helping out at special events.

Schedule a volunteer shift online today. Contact Ken at with any questions. Read these common volunteer FAQs.

Host a food fund drive at your workplace, school, neighborhood, or organization.  Advertise the food drive by posting posters, sending out emails, inserting in newsletters or bulletins, or using social media. Consider a competition between departments to see who can raise the most. Promote "Tuna Tuesday", or host a peanut butter only food drive as a creative way to encourage our most needed donations.

Go orange all month. Post a picture of your group wearing orange and describe how you're taking a stand against hunger. Tag @fmpfoodbank to join the conversation and add #StandAgainstHunger and #HungerActionMonth. Encourage others to do the same.
